The Magic Mountain

I don’t think any title by Thomas Mann has a better ring to it. This book is a mountain. It is a cascade of prose.

Hans Castorp, the main character from this novel, has been appropriated in my YA novel. He is left to serialize his adventures.

In a book this complex and difficult, I have to have time to reread it several times.

My TBR tends to get a little unwieldy. It is difficult to manage.

But I was surprised to learn that this book was referenced in a NYTimes article.

This is about the rise of fascism in Germany.

It is likely that we are seeing some of the same in United States.

Magic Mountain is a must read for anyone wanting to understand postwar Europe.

I continue to write my YA sequel. Please wish me luck!
